Every Child loves a Bedtime Story A bedtime story has always been a lovely, relaxed time to wind down which is welcomed by both tired children and weary parents. But did you know that the long term benefits have been researched to explain exactly why the bedtime story is a vital part of childhood? Some families choose to share a favourite book, others are inspired story tellers but either way your child really is set up for life. Among the benefits are: • The time spent together deepens the emotional bond between you and creates a shared history of much loved stories which are often remembered for life, long after other day to day childhood memories fade away.

• The ability to relax and unwind develops from quiet times like this. Children are also more likely to learn to calm themselves when they are older through reading or using their creative abilities in a soothing and relaxing way
• Children learn to understand others from the people they meet in story land and they realise that people think and react in different ways. Even if there were no long term advantages you still wouldn’t want to miss out on the sheer delight of watching your child become entranced by a story, now would you?
